Howard Coble collapses during speech
Conservative Lawmaker Howard Coble, who represents most of Moore County in the 6th congressional district, yesterday was taken to a High-Point hospital after fainting during a talk to the Rotary Club. Coble’s Chief Of Staff Ed McDonald says the 78-year-old Congressman appeared to hit his head on a wall as he fell midway through a talk to Rotarians in a banquet room of the High Point Country Club. A man attending the meeting says Coble regained consciousness within moments. The 13-Term Congressman was taken by ambulance to High Point Hospital where he underwent tests . Two years ago Coble, along with the rest of the North Carolina Republican Delegation, voted against the now infamous 700-billion dollar bank bailout bill known as “Tarp” that was pushed through congress by President Bush and Former Goldman-Sachs Chairman, Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson. Goldman-Sachs was one of the recipients of bailout cash. Coble served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. His home is in Greensboro.
