A 26-year-old Southern Pines Man has drowned in a boating accident near Carthage. Moore County authorities say Darrell Kelly drowned when a small aluminum fishing boat capsized on a four-acre farm pond. The boat’s other occupant, Darriet Patterson Junior of Aberdeen swam safely to shore and went for help. It took rescuers almost three hours to recover Kelly’s body.
