Landmark status not an issue for Pinehurst plan

Despite the possible effect on its historic landmark status, The Pinehurst Village Council this week unanimously voted to support a plan that changes some features of The Village Green. The National Park Service has warned that alterations could jeopardize Pinehurst’s Landmark Status. Local Architects who participated in creating the plan, say they they volunteered their efforts in order to insure the long-term viability of the village center. Pat Corso, who served as C-E-O of Pinehurst Resort for 17 years, remarked that golf alone is not enough. “We need something else to bring people to village.” In a few weeks Corso, a Pinehurst Resident, taking over as the Executive Director of Partners In Progress, a nonprofit economic development agency for Moore County.
