SandhillsTribune.Com - Steven Jones, the owner of Steve Jones Honda in Aberdeen was arrested Thursday morning by investigators with the Department Of Motor Vehicles. Mr. Jones was transported to the Moore County Detention Center where he posted bail and was released.
He has been charged with 160 offences including 83 charges of felony obtaining property by false pretenses in connection with selling vehicles before he had a title or before the vehicle had been paid for, and 77 misdemeanors of temporary tag violations and failure to deliver a vehicle title.
The dealership was open for business Thursday afternoon; however Mr. Jones was not available to comment when we visited.
The Department of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau was assisted in the investigation by the NC State Bureau of Investigation to retrieve and review computer based information.
According to Marge Howell a spokesperson for DMV in Raleigh the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone that feels like they may have experienced a similar issue with this dealership is asked to contact the nearest DMV License and Theft Bureau office. The nearest office in Moore County is located in the building that houses the License Office and State Highway Patrol on US Highway 1 in Aberdeen
