Highfalls Elementary Wins Annual Battle Of The Books Competition Friday

SandhillsTribune.Co - The annual Battle of the Books competition was held in the auditorium of Carthage Elementary Friday morning February 22, 2013. Students from all seven middle schools in Moore County gathered to more of what would be a battle of the brains.

Students are required to read from a list of novels during the school year then gather to answer very precise questions pertaining to the books. All students displayed teamwork, knowledge and leadership. Mrs. Susan Paschal was the coach of the winning team who was awarded medals and a plaque. That team was Highfalls Elementary who earned 99 points. Mrs. Paschal serves as the media specialist, also. Second place was Crain's Creek Middle who earned 95 points. They were awarded with a medal and was coached by Mrs. Lynn Harward who is the media specialist at that school, as well. Congratulations to the winners!
