Lucrative deal almost in place for dual US Opens
A pending agreement between Pinehurst and the United States Golf Association will pay the village $700,000.00 for the right to use 75 acres during the two U-S Open Golf Championships ot be played here two years hence. The agreement, which awaits the U-S-G-A's Signiture is similar to one which covered the 2005 OPEN when golf's governing body paid the village $466,000.00 for the one week tournament. The U-S-G-A also contributed $100,000.00 to Given Memorail Library and The Village Arboretum. In 2014 both the Men's and Women's Opens will be played back-o-back on Pinehurst Number 2, an historic first.
