Pinehurst picks new logo and slogan
A Pinehurst Campaign to burnish its already glossy image continues this week. On Thursday the village council will conduct a five-hour retreat to consider the village mission, vision and values. The public has been invited. The time, 9 to 2 in the police department training room. Last week council members picked out a new logo and brand slogan- “History, Charm and Southern Hospitality.’ Also last week, Pinehurst Mayor Nancy Roy Fiorillo announced her intention to seek recognition as a “Tree City U-S-A’ from The National Arbor Day Foundation. Already recognized worldwide as a Golf Mecca, Pinehurst has been known to charm visitors drawn here by the game’s premeire events contested on its links. In 2014 both the men’s and women’s U-S Open Golf Championships will be played back-to-back on Number 2, an historic first. Impetus for a new logo and slogan grew out of a recommendation in Pinehurst’s Comprehensive Plan Update. Village Manager Andy Wilkison says village residents will probably begin noticing the new logo and tagline in the next month or two.
