Moore County Commissioners this week voted unanimously to support efforts aimed at informing North Carolina Residents more fully about a proposed state amendment to bar marriage between members of the same sex.

Commissioner Nick Picerno, who introduced the resolution, said it is not about voting for or against Amendment 1. “It is,” he said, “about encouraging the public to be informed.”

So far, 29 states, including California, have banned the practice of marriage between homosexuals.

Amendment 1 on the May Primary Ballot would amend the state constitution ot say that marriage between one man and one woman is to be the only legally recognized domestic union.
