House catches fire near Lobelia

A two-story residential structure was damaged by fire Friday night just outside of Lobelia in Northeastern Moore County. The fire was reported shortly after 8:30 PM on Morrison Bridge Road by a person passing by who saw the flames. When firefighters arrived the home was heavily involved in flames.

To make matters even more dangerous than usual, an LP gas tank was reported to be inside the residence meaning firefighters faced the possibility of a hazardous explosion. To combat the fire local emergency responders closed Morrison Bridge Road to vehicle traffic. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in under half an hour, however remained on the scene well after knocking down the bulk of the fire.

Responding to the emergency call were units from the Crains Creek Fire Department, Cypress Point Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, the mobile air truck from Seven Lakes Fire & Rescue, fire units from Harnett County, Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
