Meeting called to discuss Robbins Manager mess

The Decision by Robbins Commissioners to get rid of Town Manager George Hayfield has created a dilemma which they hope to resolve tonight. Hayfield was given the choice of resigning or being fired. He chose to resign, so now the town must find a replacement. In the meantime, Police Chief Jeff Sheffield has been pressed into service, but admits he doesn’t know a thing about the job Hayfield once held. “I really don’t know what’s going on,” says Sheffield, who has received on training as a town manager. “My responsibility is public safety, not public administration.” Former Mayor Theron Bell said she was heartbroken. Dismissing the first experienced town manager in Robbins’ History, said Bell, will hurt the town. Bell called Hayfield’s forced resignation “Bizarre. It’s just unbeievable,” hs esaid. Robbins town commissioners have called a special meeting for 6 O’Clock to consider the town manager position.
