Village puts up hurdle for local developer

A Whispering Pines Developer says he is disappointed at a decision by the village council to call for another vote on plans for his latest endeavor. The Village Council voted three-to-two to review plans submitted by Colin Webster for single-family villas, duplexes and apartments on a hundred acres. Webster says 27-acres would be devoted to open space, a park, a pond and wetlands. The two newest members of the council, Gerald Osborne and Ed Blackwell, said conditions agreed to by the previous council, should be reviewed more carefully. “I think it is a great project,” said Blackwell, “it’s just the conditions I think we need to reconsider.” Webster said he was confused and disappointed. ‘What the village council is telling me,” says Webster, “is that they don’t want this development."
