Arrest made in Carthage shooting

Sheriff Lane Carter reports that on December 23, 2011 a Deputy on routine patrol in the Carthage area of Moore County was flagged down by a passing motorist. The operator of the vehicle advised he had Patrick Stubbs in his vehicle and he had been shot while in a fight at a residence in the Carolina Lakes subdivision near Carthage. Patrick Jamar Stubbs, a 28 year old male from the Southern Pines area of Moore County was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he is currently being treated for his injuries. On December 24th, 2011 Investigators arrested Carlos Terrell Mclaughlin, a 24 year old male from 262 Heron Road Carthage. McLaughlin was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000.00 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for January 4th, 2012 in Moore County District Court in Carthage. Responding to the emergency call were units from Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, the Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS and the Moore County Sheriffs Department.
