Robbins Police Officer indicted by Grand Jury
A 32-year-old Robbins Police Officer was indicted by a Moore County Grand Jury on charges of rape and committing a sexual offence. Officer Travis Lee Baker, who lives on Sandy Wood Farm Road in Pinehurst, is charged with second degree rape, second degree sexual offence two counts of sexual battery and obstructing justice. Baker was taken inot custody by S-B-I Agents. Bail was set at 25-thousand dollars secured bond. The S-B-I investigated at the request of the Moore County District Attorney’s Office. Baker worked for the Carthage and Robbins Police Departments. The alleged crimes occurred while he worked for both departments. Baker ha salso been charged with unauthorized access of a government computer and identity theft. Robbins Town Manager George Hayfield said Baker was hired full-time in Mid July. Before that he served as an auxiliary officer beginning in April. Baker was fired Monday prior to his arrest. Baker is a native of Carthage and served in the army from 1997 to 2006. He is a 1997 Graduate of Union Pines High School.
