Southern Pines ordinance to get a tweak
Southern Pines’ Unified Development Ordinance, which has lent itself at times to conflicting interpretations, which get major provisions at the hands of a Kansas Consulting Company. The U-D-O sets forth all design and land-use regulations for the town. Most recently, the 46-acre Tyler Ridge Development was withdrawn after a vigilant town council member called attention to a technical violation. The Wisconsin Developer, Jim O’Malley, withdrew the application in order to daft one that met the U-D-O provisions. That one received the endorsement of the Southern Pines Town Council, Despite a second challenge by The Moore County Wildlife And Conservation Club. Southern Pines will pay the Leawood, Kansas, consulting firm 149-thousand dollars to draft a U-D-O which conforms to the town’s long-range plan which Southern Pines adopted last year.
