New apartment complex gets challenged again

A Conservationist is mounting a second challenge to the decision by The southern Pines Council to approve The Tyler’s Ridge Apartment Complex and commercial development in the shadow of The Moore County Airport. Marsh Smith, a Southern Pines Lawyer representing The Moore County Wildlife And Conservation Club, has a second hearing scheduled for Friday. In Early September The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission issued a unanimous ruling against Smith. The Southern Pines Council this week voted 4 to 1 to permit Wisconsin Developer Jim O’Malley to go ahead with construction of 216 apartments and 64-thousand square feet of retail space on 46-acres along Route 22. Smith is challenging that decision.
