Cape Fear Valley breaks ground on new hospital

The Cape fear Valley Health System threw caution to the wind this week when it broke ground for a medical complex in Hoke County. Cape Fear and Firsthealth Of The Carolinas are currently in Mediation over how to resolve legal appeals over a state decision to permit each health care system to build a hospital in Raeford ot serve Hoke County. Breeden Blackwell, Chairman of Cape Fear’s Board Of Trustees, predicts his health system will start construction of a 41-bed hospital next year as a key part of the complex. Firsthealth has plans for a competing hundred-million dollar 65-bed hospital less than three miles away.
