Unemployment still a concern in our region

Moore has the best showing, reporting only a slight increase in the number of jobless from the previous month. However, Harnett is flirting with 12-percent unemployment, while Lee and Montgomery are well on their way to 13-percent. Hoke, like Moore, reports the number of jobless well below the statewide average of 10-point-four percent. Scotland County and Lumberton continue to have the state’s highest unemployment rate, 17-point-one percent.Jobs xontinue to be a source of concern in our six-county region.
