Jury selection continues in Robert Stewart trial
Jury selection in the Mass-Murder trial of Robert Stewart proceeds today in Albermarle with six jurors already seated after having been warned they’ll be asked to view some disturbing photos of the crime scene. One potential juror said she could not render an impartial verdict if shown the grisly photos. She was dismissed. The graphic pictures are part of the evidence against Stewart, who killed seven helpless patients of a Carthage nursing home and a male nurse who tried to push wheelchair-obund residents of the Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center to safety. Prosecutors and defense lawyers must find six more Stanly County Residents ot serve on the jury and at least three alternates. The six jurors picked by the end of proceedings yesterday, were a female social worker, an expectant mother, a father who works at a group home for autistic children, a part-time funeral home employee, a former Stanly County Magistrate and a long-haul trucker. Jury selection could last another two or three weeks.
