Housing Development back on Council agenda
The Southern Pines Town Council expects tonight’s session will be a long one, if past performance is any indication. The Tyler’s Ridge Housing Development is back on the agenda after the application was withdrawn in the spring when a conflict with the town’s unified development ordinance became apparent. The Wisconsin Developer, Tim O’Malley, changed specifications in order to satisfy the town’s main objections. In June, the town planning board, which had turned O’Malley’s prop0osal down in January, reversed itself and unanimously recommended approval. Previous hearings, like the one tonight, have lasted into the wee hours and town lawmakers say they are expecting another marathon session. Tyler’s Ridge, to be situated on 46 acres in the shadow of the Moore County Airport, proposes to contain 216 apartments and 64 thousand square feet of commercial retail psace.
