Wounded would be robber charged with felonies |

A Southern Pines 17-year-old, wounded in a convenience store shootout last month, has been charged with a number of felonies upon his release from a prison hospital in Raleigh.
Randy Williams is accused of attempted murder, robbery and kidnapping.
Williams was struck in the face by shotgun pellets fired from the gun of 78-year-old angus Kelly whose wife, a Vass convenience store clerk, was under siege by four armed men attempting to rob the store at closing time.
Kelly, shot twice, was gravely wounded but is recovering.
Grace Kelly, his 75-year-old wife was shot in the arm.
Her four assailants were quickly captured and linked to a number of other robberies in the region.
In jail on charges similar to William’s are 20-year-old Leroy Medley, 17-year-old Paris Mack, and 18-year-old DeMarcus Dennison.
In a warmup for the main event, Mack attempted ot rob residents of a home on Shaw Avenue in Southern Pines.
He also joined Dennison and Williams in the armed robbery of Hardee’s in Aberdeen.
And Southern Pines Police believe they uncovered a gang-related fencing operation with the arrest of 36-year-old Tuneeka Johnson inside a Brookside Apartment where property stolen during at least nine robberies was recovered.
Police believe the same gang of young black males is to blame ofr a string of armed robberies as far away as Charlotte.
